Conversion therapy is based on the belief that non-normative gender orientation is a mental illness that must be "cured."  Studies have shown that conversion therapy leads to higher incidents of suicidal thoughts, suicide and depression.  It should be banned.  Our Republican-led state legislature will not do anything about it.  So, it is up to health professionals to protect children from this harmful practice.
