Protection of children is not about letting them do whatever "feels" right to them, especially in a confusing period such as puberty.  It is allowing them to express their feelings and then guiding them according to biblical truth.  Many teenagers go through normal confusion during puberty -- this whole transgender thing just adds to the confusion and life-altering surgeries and counseling, done without parental involvement is a travesty of the worst kind against kids.  Counselors must be allowed to talk through gender issues with kids in confidence and by all means, parents need to be involved!
