Kratom is a dangerous drug for many

My younger brother died from his kratom. He worked at a treatment center for teen boys and was sober from alcohol, but used kratom for anxiety. He believed all the hype that is was 100% safe, non-addictive, and with no overdose potential, and it is not. His use ramped up during the pandemic, because his anxiety was at an all time high, and because you build a tolerance for the drug. Unfortunately at some point a doctor prescribed him an anti anxiety med either not knowing he was using kratom, or like so many people they may not have even known was kratom was. Even if they looked it up they would have been bombarded with half truths the kratom industry is pushing on lawmakers and the public. Had they known, or been properly educated on kratom they would know mixing SSRI’s and kratom is dangerous. This can cause siezures and ultimately death, which is what happened to my brother Matthew. His death certificate and toxicology report show it was kratom that killed my brother. Look up subreddit and FB groups for quitting kratom, or even just for kratom lovers, and you will see many people are using it to get high, and many are struggling to quit, and are having serious health issues. This drug, and it is a drug no matter what the industry tries to say, most definitely needs to be regulated like a drug that can have very serious consequences.
