Digital Scans in Dentistry

I agree with the petition that has been filed with the Virginia Board of Dentistry titled "Requirements for doctor/patient relationship and use of digital scans".

As a licensed dentist in the state of Virginia for the past 25 years, I am astonished that we have come to this point.  We are actually debating whether it is reasonable for patients to seek dental treatment without the direct supervision of a trained and licensed doctor.  The main reason the state imposes licensure for dental professionals is to protect the citizens of Virginia from substandard care which could very well lead to greater harm for the patient than no treatment at all.  Why has is suddenly become "ok" to allow dental treatment without the direct supervision of a trained and licensed professional?

Please stand up for the rights of the citizens of Virginia and for the dental professionals that have been caring for these patients by approving this petition.

Sincerely,

Dr Britt Visser
