Trans people have been using the restroom of their chosen gender for decades without issue. Why is it suddenly a problem now? The answer is that it isn't actually a problem. It's just the work of bigots like The Family Foundation pushing transphobia like this under the disguise of "protection."

This entire show is founded on two distinct beliefs. The first is that girls are weak and frail and in need of protection, which is just downright misogynistic. The second is that trans women are inherently dangerous and predatory. This makes some fundamentally incorrect and downright hateful assumptions about everyone involved.

Keep your religious bigotry out of public policy. Jesus Christ, Yeshua bar Yosef, would disagree with you out of hand. "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's" is a very clear call to keep religion out of secular matters. 

I challenge each and every one of you so-called "Christians" to actually consider the tenets of your faith. Where is the love for thy neighbor? Where is the care for the downtrodden? Where is the rebuking of hate? You enable actual predators like sports coaches, pastors, priests, etc., while condemning completely innocent women. 

Those that submitted this petition should be especially ashamed of yourselves. I will fully admit that trans athletes in professional and collegiate athletics is a grey area, but you use it to perpetuate policy that will affect ALL sports leagues. More importantly, it will affect ALL public spaces. Reka Gyorgy, did Lia Thomas simply existing in a locker room hurt you? No, no it did not. As a Virginia Tech alumna, I am deeply ashamed of you. 

I would absolutely understand if this petition was solely about athletics with a serious material reward,  but it's not. It uses what is an incredibly niche issue (there are only less than a dozen NCAA athletes who are trans women) as a front for far more detrimental policy than will not only harm every single trans woman in Virginia, but every single woman in Virginia. Furthermore, trans minors are no longer even allowed access to HRT, preventing them from participating in the athletics programs of their transitioned gender. It's an obscene non-issue that's being propagandized to sell and distribute hate across the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

Therefore, I strongly urge the Virginia Board of Health to dispose of this petition in the nearest recycling bin. At least then the paper could be reused for something useful.
