This increase in renewal fee is a slap in the face to all of us as healthcare workers. Already working in a field that is crumbling, where employers and patients oftentimes have no respect for the selfless job that we do. We are understaffed, underpaid for what we deal with, and we are tired. I fear that if the renewal rate increases, our country will lose a good portion of the nurses that are still in the workforce. Then what will we do? To the Board of Nursing, shame on all of you for even considering such a hike that could prove to be detrimental not only to us as nurses, but to the overall “health” of our country.
