7 years ago, mysgoulders started acting up on me. I needed 2 total shoulder replacements. But had to wait till it got worse before insurance would cover it. Dr. prescribed options, which I took for a few months but only at night. I am unable to fall asleep on my back, so some kind of pain relief was required. My Dr. retired, and the new clinic I went to won't prescribe narcotics. So after hearing from a friend about kratom, I started taking it. Only at night, occasionally a small dose during the day if my pain got bad. I've since had one shoulder replaced. I still take kratom to help me sleep, and for pain in the remaining shoulder, which has enabled me to keep working, and get the sleep I need. I skip a day or two once I awhile, with no withdrawal issues or cravings. If used correctly, it is quite beneficial.
