Kratom helped save my life from an actual opiate addiction. Kratom literally helped me regain control of my mind after 3 years on suboxone and repeated relapses. I have not touched an actual opiate in over 6 years after 10 years of continuous opiate use. I have a clean bill of health, am not psychotic, and am currently in the best shape of my adult life. Kratom (a relative of the coffee bean plant) only acts on the delta opioid receptors in the brain; it does not activate mu receptors, which suppress breathing and can lead to nodding/overdose. This makes kratom a powerful tool in opiate withdrawal treatment because it alleviates cravings without causing a dangerous high; this is not the case for big pharma's opiate cessation treatments like methadone and buprenorphine - both of which are highly addictive and dangerous.
