New Regulations to stop polluted runoff

I am a life-long resident of the Commonwealth.

For years I have worked for higher water quality in the Commonwealth.

Back in the 1980's I was a volunteer attorney for the Friends of the Rappahannock.

In the 1990's I worked with Stafford County, VA. on a horrible run-off erosion site that a developer had abandoned.  I also brought the first appeal of the Agriculture Consumer Act against a dairy operation in Fauquier County; which was sucessful in stopping the dumping of cow urine and feces directly into Deep Run Creek.

For almost 30 years I have watched as our Commonwealth developed and the water quality dropped.

Yes, we all have a share in the responsibility...outdoorsmen and women, farmers, developers and homebuyers.

But I have no doubt that the biggest source of the problems are found in development of the land.

How long will the Commonwealth sit by and watch their rivers become unswimmable and unfishable?  How long will we watch the Bay die, right before our eyes.

Please support the new regulations that have been worked on during the past three years!

Please reject the developer's last-minute attack with their flawed proposals.

Please do the right thing!

Sincerely,

Thomas Y. Savage
