Protect the Youth

Conversion therapy, when forced on someone, is not therapy. It does not help. It's nothing short of torture, and a destruction of personal identity. If you were truly acting out of faith, then you would have the faith to believe that God will lead your child where they need to be, without you needing to put them through something so horrible. Spare not the rod, of course, but this is far beyond using a rod to punish bad behavior. Homosexuality is not "bad behavior," any more than working on the sabbath or wearing clothing made of different materials are bad behavior. The old testament also states both of these things are sin. I don't see any of you updating your wardrobes or refusing to do housework on the day of the sabbath. You should know that love is, and always has been, the answer. Forced conversion therapy is not an act of love and faith. It is the opposite. It is hatred and intolerance. It is trying to force another to follow YOUR will. Even if they are your child, your task is to teach them, train them, and protect them. It is NOT to crush their identity and force them to be what you view as perfect. That is not what God tasked Christians to do with their children.
