Gun free zones aren't safer for the people following the laws.  They are safer for the people that come in trying to kill people in those areas.  More killings have happened in gun free zones than any other places.  Allowing the law abiding to carry in these areas would make people that want to do bad things think twice about doing that.  You can't make people good just by wishing it away, you need people that will stand up and take action to protect their fellow citizens when things go sideways.  And the best way that you can do that is if you have a gun with you when that time comes.
