Importantly the Governor has no authority for this regulation. If the General Assembly wanted the Governor to have such power, they would have granted it to him explicitly, as is required constitutionally.
The Governor does not have the authority to create this regulation. The VA Constitution and VA Code are clear on the official duties and delegated powers of the Governor. Banning guns isn't one of them.
The proposed regulation does not make anyone safer. It just plays into the hands of terrorists that prefer to have buildings full of unarmed victims to kill when they choose to launch an attack. Disarming the citizens of VA as the Governor has proposed is not the answer to improving our safety.
This proposed regulation is a solution for which there is no problem. It endangers state employees, law abiding citizens, and the innocent by making state buildings a safe zone for terrorists, criminals, and the criminally insane to conduct their evil and savage actions.
This regulation should not be approved and the emergency regulation should be withdrawn immediately.
