Dry needling is fully within PT scope of practice and should not be confused with acupuncture. Acupuncture is a completely different treatment from dry needling, the only similarity is the needle. A physical therapist's knowledge and experience with the musculoskeletal and neurological systems keeps dry needling within the scope of practice.
