In the US, MDs need 4 year medical school, at least 3 year or more to get medical license, they also need pass medical board exam to practice medicine. After all above done, they then take at least 300 hour acupuncture course, they still have to pass the acupuncture exam to be certified to practice acupuncture.
Compared with MDs, PTs received far less education in medicine. They only have 3-4 year school, and only learn a few systems of human body. Because of lack of adequate education, PTs are not capable and not allowed to make any medical diagnosis. PTs are only allowed to play a role as " technician" to respond to MDs' prescription. PTs are not permitted to perform invasive medical procedures. How can American people give their life to such poor trained therapists with less 100 hour course and without any examination to insert needles into their body? US has the highest standard for medicine in this world, we should not low our standard to allow unqualified PTs to perform invasive procedures.
