Dry needling by physical therapists is practicing acupuncture without a license.

Dry needling (acupuncture) practiced by an individual not properly trained in acupuncture is extremely dangerous.  Most states require a four years of specialized training before allowing practitioners to sit for board exams.  There are hundreds of acupuncture points, each with their own functional characteristics.  Understanding point selection, location, direction and proper depth of insertion is critical to the health of individuals seeking treatment. The amount of training needed to understand the complex patterns of disease and treatment utilizing acupuncture, isa long a arduous program.  Acupuncture is completely beyond the scope of practice of physical therapists, and a danger to their patients.  Improper insertion of needles can result is severe complications and even death.  Protect your constituency and block this movement.
