Current Licensure Requirements and Recommendations

The current regulations proivde a good foundation for maintaining quality behavior anlaysis services for populations that desperately need these services. The BACB certification test is a very challenging test and for those with appropriate and effective training, the BACB requirements would serve as a good basis of quality provider.  Further, it is important to ensure that people certified as behavior analysts continue to work toward maintaining  that certification through BACB and this serve as a benchmark of approving who is allowed to practice in the state of Virginia.

If an Advisory Board is established, the board should contain BCBAs as well as BCABAs with sufficient experience and expertise to guide and shape the future of behavior analysis services in the state of Virginia.
