I oppose this petition

I oppose this petition based on the fact that Counseling and Psychology are different professions with their own training programs, codes of ethics, professional organizations, and licensures. The Counseling and Psychology professions approach mental health practice with different philosophies that are cultivated in their respective training programs and which manifest in distinct approaches to clinical practice. They are NOT the same. Psychologist have their own licensure opportunities that represent their own discipline's standards. Thus, graduates of psychology programs should seek licensure within their own discipline. If one desires to practice under a counseling license (LPC), they should seek appropriate training within the discipline.
