I fully endorse the Arc’s thoughtful response to the proposed changes to Medicaid. As parents who have loved and struggled to find adequate and appropriate support for our special needs child, I cannot comprehend how these changes and caps on hours will benefit our now-adult person. Without the incredible help we have received from the agency who works with our son, I am quite sure he would not be as successful and healthy as he is now. Adding another layer - or a different layer - of paperwork and reducing service hours only increases the problems we have had to overcome along the path to his adulthood. We are so very grateful for every government and agency employee who has held our hands and cared for our son through many difficult periods. We are so very grateful for the help, and pray that you read and thoughtfully consider how these changes will impact those who have been served so well.
