Regarding RGGI

Virginia’s participation in RGGI should absolutely not be repealed.  Firstly, Virginia has been mandated by state law to participate in RGGI since 2020.  The current administration does not have the legal right to repeal it by its own volition.  Besides this, RGGI has been working.  Since joining, power plant emissions in Virginia decreased about 12.5 percent in 2021 and another 8 percent in 2022.  Finally, the decrease in emissions has reduced air pollution and with it numerous health conditions.  These include asthma attacks and premature births just to name a few.  Participating states have realized roughly $5.7 billion in public health benefits over the course of 6 years due to RGGI.
