Purpose of the meeting
To receive public comment on on a permit application from ArborTech Forest Products, Inc to modify their dimensional lumber manufacturing plant. The proposed amendment to the permit would allow the two wood-fired boilers to burn additional fuel. The proposed facility is classified as major source of air pollution. The maximum annual emissions of air pollutants from the facility under the proposed permit are expected to be: 109.12 tons/yr of particulate matter (PM, PM-10), 55.18 tons/yr of NOx, 125.71 tons/yr of CO, 156.19 tons/yr of VOCs, and 4.53 tons/yr of SO2. The applicant proposes to burn 61,022 tons/yr of wood residue excluding bark or any wood which contains chemical treatments or has affixed thereto paint and/or finishing materials or paper or plastic laminates for fuel. The applicant will use multicyclones to control particulate matter emissions from the two wood-fired boilers. No add-on controls will be used for the control of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from the wood-fired boilers. The estimated effect on air quality near the facility from the proposed project is no exceedance of current Ambient Air Quality Standards. The DEQ is requesting concurrent processing of the draft and proposed Title V permit reviews and significant permit amendment. The public comment period begins June 22, 2006 and ends on August 16, 2006.
