Stage:
On 4/21/2023 the board requested that this
emergency stage be extended until 12/29/2023.
Reason for Extension:
Chapter 242 of the 2021 Acts of Assembly entered Virginia into the Occupational Therapy Interjurisdictional Compact and required the Board of Medicine to promulgate emergency regulations to implement the legislation. The Board did so and the current emergency regulations are set to expire on June 30, 2023. The Board of Medicine voted on proposed regulations to replace the emergency regulations at its April 8, 2022 Executive Committee meeting and submitted the proposed regulations to executive branch review. Due to the length of time the proposed regulations have been under review at the various steps of the review process, the Board cannot complete the proposed action and submit a final action for approval before June 30, 2023. The Board therefore requests an extension of the emergency regulations.
This emergency extension request was approved by the Governor's office on 5/3/2023.
