support for emergency regulations

The Commonwealth Midwives Alliance supports the Emergency Regulations for the practice of Licensed Midwives. We would suggest that these regulations be made permanent, barring any statutory changes. Sincerely, Brynne Potter, CPM Commonwealth Midwives Alliance

Support for Emergency Regulations of Licensed Midwives

As a mother of two children who has used the services of Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), I support the Emergency Regulaions and ask that they be made permanent. I would add that I also support statutory change that would permit midwives to carry controlled substances that are within their scope of practice for rare emergency situations.

Sincerely,

Sara Fariss Krivanec

Regulations Governing the Practice of Licensed Midwives

The licensing of midwives in Virginia is an important step in providing Virginia families with another safe childbirth option. I would ask that, pending statutory change, Licensed Midwives be allowed to carry controlled substances that are within their scope of practice and could become necessary in the event of an emergency.   I have benefited from the loving, skilled care of midwives during my three pregnancies and am looking forward to the day that midwives are a feasible option for all Virginia families.  Julie Pettler, Executive Director, Birth Matters, Inc.

Regulations Governing the practice of CPMs

As a homebirth mother of two, I support the Emergency Regulations for licensing Certified Professional Midwives and ask that they be made permanent with the pending statutory change. Making this change allows CPMs to have access to the controlled substances that they've been trained to use and that they need for rare situations so that they can provide the best and safest care for women. sincerely, Julia Weissman Charlottesville
