Do we insist that vasectomy clinics have wider hallways? Where are the rules requiring that clinics performing colonoscopies, foot surgery, cosmetic and male reproductive procedures must be subject to the same kinds of rules that have been imposed on women's clinics? This is health-care discrimination, pure and simple.
Women's health-care clinics should not be singled out for nanny-state regulations designed to shut them down and make it harder for women to access the health-care services they need and want. Women and their doctors should be able to decide, not outsiders who want to have their say-so over women's bodies. Medical experts oppose these restrictions that have no basis in medical fact and try to trump science and the wishes of women and their doctors. Please put an end to these meed;ess restrictions and legislators' attempts to declare eminent domain over women's bodies in Virginia.
