I am writing today regarding this proposed change.
For the past 6 years, as a senior citizen, I have been on Medicaid receiving at home long term care services. The ability to live in my home is better for my mental health as opposed to residing in a facility.
My current service facilitator has played a very important role ensuring I have what I need on a daily basis. Over the years, we have developed a close, personal relationship built on years of trust, understanding and knowledge of my physical and special medical needs. I fear this proposed change would be detrimental to me and my caregiver wife. We have relied on my service facilitator to help navigate the complex system of services and support, connecting me to critical resources. The services and support provided help me live safely, independently and with dignity. Our relationship provides me consistency, guidance and the advocacy that ultimately makes me feel safe and secure. I have a brain injury due to a stroke 8 years ago and safety and security are essential for my mental health. I am comforted in knowing my service facilitator has always been there when I needed someone.
In closing, please allow me the right to choose my own service facilitator to help me have my special needs met.
Sincerely,
William Miller
