I depend on service facilitation to help coordinate the supports that allow me to live indecently, remain safe, and participate fully in my community. An important part of that support system is my ability to choose the service facilitator who best understands my needs and goals.
Over time, my service facilitator has developed a strong understanding of my circumstances, preferences, and challenges. This trusted relationship provides continuity, advocacy, and guidance that would be difficult to replicate through an assigned broker. Removing my ability to choose would diminish my voice in decisions that directly affect my daily life.
The freedom to select my own provider is not simply a preference. It is a key component of self-direction and personal independence. I respectfully ask you to consider how this change could affect the way individuals and families who rely on these vital services. Please preserve our right to choose the professionals who know us best and support us in achieving the highest quality of life possible.
