Replacing our chosen Service Facilitators with Support Brokers employed by the same fiscal agencies responsible for caregiver payroll is a concerning change. Both PPL and CDCN have historically struggled with communication and problem-solving with caregivers and EORs, only just recently making some positive changes in those areas.
Before expanding their responsibilities to include the critical role currently performed by Service Facilitators, DMAS should ensure that these agencies can consistently and effectively fulfill their existing obligations -rather than consolidating responsibilities.
Our Service Facilitators play an immensely important role in navigating consumer directed services. Families depend on their guidance, continuity, and support in each unique circumstance.
This proposed replacement should first demonstrate clear improvements in service quality and accountability, not just hypothetical cost savings.
