Unfunded mandate will burden taxpayers - AGAIN!

I would like to address the new proposed EMS Educator requirements which I feel are going to be very excessive for our educators and the agencies they work for and with. To require EMS Educators to obtain an additional 12 hours of educator specific education EVERY recert period, in addition to the 50 hours already required teaching in a 2 year period. That is an UNFUNDED MANDATE, the cost of such classes is a financial burden to already budget-poor EMS systems/governments & EMS educators who will likely have to pay for many of these classes on their own, out of pocket, taking time off from work, especially in the volunteer sector of EMS. Career departments are already walking a very thin line with budgetary issues, this will further exacerbate their issues; compensating division instructors, filling vacancies that arise from employees needing time off to attend classes, and if employees decide not to renew, having to pay instructors to teach their staff.

So for the 12 hours I will be required to get every 2 years for my EMS Educator certification, it will cost me about:

In-State College at $253.50 per hours x 12 hours=$3,042.00 (with no inflation)

Private College at $909.76 per hour x 12 hours (required)=$10,917.12 every 2 years (with no inflation)
