Look how many east coast states allow menhaden fishing in their bays and waters. Is Virginia the only one that allows their waters to be stripped of menhaden?
Stripped Bass used to be plentiful in the southern Chesapeake Bay, but no longer. Ospreys used to be plentiful in and around Chesapeake Bay, but no longer. Scientific studies show a direct relationship between those species and the lack of menhaden in the Bay.
Virginia has a responsibility to properly manage it's natural resources, but it appears greed has become more important. It's time to step up and protect our natural resources and a necessary source of food for those resources.
