I support the petition to regulate commercial menhaden fishing.  I have watched the industrial harvesting of menhaden at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay complete with spotter planes circling the area, with boats on standby to arrive to the menhaden-rich area identified by the spotter planes.  The boats then encircle the schools of menhaden with their purse seines and plunder the waters until their boats are loaded or there are no more menhaden to harvest.  The industrial fishing of menhaden in the Chesapeake Bay is not sustainable and the importance of menhaden to the ecosystem is critical.
