Please use your full authority to limit carbon

Given the clear evidence of climate change as a Virginian I'm very encouraged to see Virginia taking steps to cut carbon pollution to combat climate change.  I'd like to see the state create and use strong, equitable, and scientifically sound plans to reduce greenhouse gases.  I would ask that DEQ use every available method and authority to create a rule based upon the most recent and best science available that reduces carbon pollution from VA's power plants.  Since I have asthma I'm interested in ensuring that all Virginia residents benefit from any profits generated from carbon standards, especially front line communities.  The rule should also make sure that those communities which are most directly affected by carbon pollution get the most benefit from revenue generated by this rule.  I would ask that Virginia put its best efforts to growing a cleaner energy economy by maximizing investments in zero-carbon wind, solar and energy efficiency.  This might include rebates for the purchase of insulation for homes, Energy star appliance purchases, energy efficient window purchases and homes designed to zero net energy use.  I strongly encourage DEQ to schedule public hearings at a wide variety of locations across the state to hear from as many citizens as possible including times on the weekends and in the evenings.  This would encourage all Virginians to feel involved and that their voice is being heard by the State and DEQ.  Thank you for the work that you do.
