This petition is not about locker rooms. I sympathize with the Roanoke swimmers whose performance was dwarfed by their trans almost-teammate's abilities, but the place to take that issue up is not public health and safety regulation; it's the NCAA. Those swimmers aren't unsafe; they're simply unhappy.

Trans athletes and community members aren't a threat to others' safety in locker rooms or dressing rooms - if anything, it's the opposite! I've trained and changed side-by-side with trans performers, and have always felt supported and encouraged by them.

There are real public health issues facing women and girls in Virginia, like domestic violence, maternal health, and poverty. Please don't be distracted from real work by this petition.
