Virginia, you can do better than this.
What are the motives of the people that want to ban kratom? What do they have to gain? Have you fact checked the information the proponents of this absurd appeal are giving you? If you really want to ban something that has been proven time and time again to be dangerous (not just those that use it but also to those that don’t) then ban alcohol! You think that’s a preposterous suggestion?
Well NO ONE is killing anyone because they took kratom and drove, NO ONE is overdosing on kratom, NO ONE is stealing to support their kratom usage, NO ONE is breaking into cars, homes, businesses, etc., just because they want a dose of kratom. NO one is neglecting their children, their families or themselves because they’re intoxicated on kratom. NO ONE is beating their spouse or partner because they drank too much kratom and got abusive. NO ONE gets intoxicated and unable to control their behavior because they take kratom. And yet alcohol causes all of these things and so much more to happen every single day- all over the country AND Virginia. But no one is trying to ban alcohol. If you can just shrug your shoulders and say “oh well”, knowing full well the harm that alcohol causes, then going after kratom is about as hypocritical, irrational and counterproductive as it can possibly get. Kratom has been helping people for thousands of years. It can safely help you sleep, safely help you reduce anxiety, safely help you treat pain, safely help you wake up and give you energy to tackle your day. The opiate epidemic isn’t over, not by a long shot, and kratom is one of the few natural things that can help people to overcome an opiate addiction. Banning kratom wouldn’t do anything to help Virginia but it sure would hurt a lot of innocent people. It would be a ridiculous waste of time, effort and money. You have enough on your plate right now to worry about Virginia, we all do. Focus on things that actually need your attention and leave kratom alone.
