As it stands even now, I believe Kratom is a net positive in society. As a long term  (year+) user I submit to you that it has helped me tremendously in many ways.  Were it reasonably regulated I believe it would provide an even greater benefit to the individual and society.

Scheduling Kratom would serve no greater purpose than going into any GNC store or natural foods store supplement aisle and criminalizing the products on those shelves. What we see instead are shelves of WELL REGULATED products serving a purpose all while having the potential for misuse. 

I see no reason for the Commonwealth to infringe upon the right of its citizens to choose for themselves this product, Kratom. At the same time I believe our elected representatives have a duty to explore every avenue for ensuring safety of the consumers and accountability of those selling/distributing.

Criminalization would be a harmful overcorrection with the societal net negative greater than the current net positive.

As a final point, I strongly consider the comments promoting scheduling to be largely ignorant, shortsighted, and based out of fear of the unknown. I have little doubt that financially motived propaganda is to blame for opponents of Kratom use.

May we all be more educated and leave the right to consume this plant in the hands of the individual not the state.
