Addition of Kratom to Schedule 1 - Please Don’t!

For me, kratom has literally been a lifesaver! Due to a service- connected injury (I’m a disabled Veteran) I’ve been living life in a world of pain you never knew existed, and can’t wrap your head around, but Kratom helps! Because of the CDC’s opioid guidelines and pain management in the U.S. still being controlled by the DEA, the “Opioid Crisis” is officially over. Yet, I and many other legitimate chronic pain sufferers like me, are still under medicated. I can barely function on my prescription pain meds alone. I have been suicidal several times.

But with the right strain of kratom from a provider certified by the American Kratom Association, where I can trust that the product has not been tampered with or adulterated, this miraculous plant from God-given plant that requires no processing other than crushing, has improved my quality of life! I can take care of myself, my pets, and most things around my house. Kratom has been used for millennia by indigenous peoples for medical and relaxation purposes, and the American Kratom Society has ensured safe access in the United States for some time now.

Unfortunately, legislators in the United States have very little knowledge of the effects of kratom. Rather than spend the money to study it, they would just as soon ban it. Legislators also have no idea what it’s like to live with unrelenting, mind-bending pain or any of the other health conditions kratom is known by users to benefit. With across the board regulation of opioids prescriptions the CDC and the DEA have effectively transformed the Opioid Crisis into a much more deadly fentanyl crisis on the street and a suicide crisis in the legitimate pain community. Some people are even able to get off opioids by using the plant, kratom. Yes, kratom should be regulated by the organization that already exists. The American Kratom Association can effectively do that. Please, don’t ban this natural substance with the God-given power to help us all.
