Description of Proposed Guidance Document Changes

The Assessment Requirements for Virginia Licensure will be updated to include ETS Praxis assessments for Russian, with a cut score of 130, Chinese (Mandarin), with a cut score of 164, and Latin, with a cut score of 152, ETS Praxis recommended cut score of 148 for the Geometry Praxis (5163) assessment. and update the Elementary Education Praxis 5001 assessment subtests 5002 Reading and Language Arts, 5003 Mathematics, 5004 Social Science and 5005 Science to the new 8000 series (8002 Reading and Language Arts, 8003 Mathematics, 8004 Social Science and 8005 Science) with recommended cut scores for Elementary Education Praxis 8001 subtests: 152 for test 8002, 152 for test 8003, 147 for test 8004, and 143 for test 8005. The Assessment Requirements for Virginia Licensure will also be updated to include to approve the ETS Praxis Assessment 5589: Middle School Social Studies with a cut score of 149 to replace the previously approved Praxis 5089: Middle School Social Studies. This change is being made due to the pending sunset of the current Praxis 5089: Middle School Social Studies assessment in the Fall of 2026.
