Since I already have to participate in CE in several other states (12 hours here in NC) it will not  be a burden to comply with CE for VA registration.  The question is - is CE of any real value to those of us who work every day in our profession or is it simply a way to generate income for academics who teach the courses.  As part of an A/E firm, the engineers I work with every day say that most of the courses they take are taught by individuals who have no where near the experience of those who actually work in their chosen profession.  The courses taught by AIA are vastly overpriced for the befefit.  I've found that taking actual code classes taught in the community college system to be not only a less expensive alternative, but also of much more value.

And last, but not least, are the local building officials also going to be required to take CE classes.  If it is to be required of registered professionals, why is it not required of those who review our documents and issue building permits?
