I support the proposed changes to be made regarding state regulations of Clinical Nurse Specialist based on the Consensus Model. It will allow our practice to be held to the same standards of licensure, accreditation, and education across the nation. As a CNS student, the future of this advanced practice role is of concern. Our practice is important to the healthcare delivery system in that it influences patient outcomes by focusing on cost-effective, holistic, evidence based care.  With the growing healthcare needs of the nation and vulnerable populations that are suffering from health disparities, CNS’s should be recognized as APRNs and standardization will allow for us to use our expertise and training to our full advantage to positively impact the outcomes for patients and families.
