I support alignment of Virginia regulations with the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation: LACE. Clinical Nurse Specialists bring nursing experts to the bedside (where ever that "bedside" is) through direct nursing care and role modeling, educating both the public and other health care providers, and advocating change in the delivery of health care in their organizations and the community at large. We work alongside other health care providers to optimize the outcomes for our patients and their families. Our focus continues to be holistic, incorporating all known factors that are influencing patient decision-making.  Clinical Nurse Specialists have always been prepared at the Master's level with an emphasis on advanced nursing knowledge and skill development, and we welcome this effort to standardize the regulation of advanced nursing practice across Virginia and the nation.
