PE CE Requirements

What is the underlying requirement for CE?  Has there been a significant increase in cases where PEs are failing to perform?  This should be the bottom line.  If there has been an increase in the number of suspended PE licenses then perhaps the current system needs to be revamped.  If this is the case, will CE correct the problem or is it just an administrative drill?  Or is it a disguise to obtain additional funds?

If CE is to be implemented it should be scaled where CE credit is given based on experience and the level of education.  A PE having MS or PhD degrees; or other certified license should not be levied the same requirement as those that don't have them.  With the amazing amount of technical information available via the internet, we can keep abreast of the latest technologies in our specialty areas whereas a formal course cannot.

I fail to see the requirement for CE.  I vote NO to CE.
