I am writing to voice my support for the proposed stormwater management regulations that place greater controls on polluted runoff coming from new development.  These more stringent regulations will go a long way towards reducing nutrient input into our streams and rivers and mitigating erosion from developed sites.

The Chesapeake Bay, along with many of Virginia's lakes, rivers and streams, are suffering because of excessive nutrient input and pollution, much of which can be attributed to stormwater runoff at developed sites.  Given the rapid rate of development that is occuring throughout the state, and especially in Northern Virginia, continuing at status quo will only exacerbate these problems.  As an avid kayaker, outdoorsman, and fisherman, I feel the proposed stormwater regulations will greatly boost our aquatic resources, which will be a tremendous benefit to me and the millions of other Virginians who spend time recreating on our streams, rivers, lakes, and estuaries.   I strongly urge you to pass the proposed stormwater regulations, which will more stringently control the amount of stormwater runoff allowed from new developments.  These science-based regulations will ensure economic development continues while enhancing aquatic systems that are invaluable to our state.
