Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly Oppose BOE guidelines concerning gender at school

I strongly oppose the Board of Education guidelines on gender identity in our public schools.  This is based on what I have read, all of which deny God's creation of male and female.  It also denies known science.  This is a blatant attack by the LGBTQ community, not only to have their behavior tolerated, but accepted and promoted on the most innocent of our country, our children.  Their plan is obviously to confuse children about which sex they really are, when normally, they would never question it.  They know whether they are male or female by birth!  They don't need to be confused about it by those who seek to change society to their liking.

Besides this, parent's rights are being totally denied, and teachers are unable to follow their conscience while pinned to these new classroom and school guidelines.  I am truly shocked and horrified.  I was a public school teacher and I cannot imagine being forced into this mold being mandated upon me to call a boy by a girl's name or a girl by a boy's name just because the child "declared" that they felt like a sex not biologically theirs.  There is also the problem of the use of the opposite sex's bathrooms, shower rooms and changing rooms.  Although there would be no threat to a boy entering a girl's restroom, the girls would definitely feel threatened!  We must stop these atrocious guidelines from going into effect.  This is ungodly and abhorrent!
