As others have done, I have read the postings prior to adding my thoughts.  I have been concerned about this for some time. I too HAVE to maintain my proficiency in my field, power engineering, and take specialty courses every year.  The code provides that we must be trained and proficient in our field of practice in order to certify the work we do.  Why isn’t that sufficient? How many colleges do you think still teach power engineering? Not as many as you think. As these get less and less just keeping up with what I NEED to know requires me to travel and spend time away from home and work.  In these budgetary times this is getting difficult. I would like to see enforcement instead of more hurdles. There are many with the title of “engineer” that have not earned that right by getting a degree in this profession.  Among those individuals that could become Professional Engineers the percent registering is very low.  This, in my opinion, would make the number willing to go the next step even lower.  Please vote NO to this proposal.
