Continuing Education Land Surveyors:

Why are we so much better than our sister states to the south, west and north?  Norrth Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland all have C E requirements.  Since when does Virginia fall in last.  In colonial times we led the way to freedom and to the growth of this county.  Now we are saying 'we do not need to be educated, we are smarter / better than all the professionals in our neighboring states.'  I say get in line and be a leader and not a tag along professional.  I have not heard of these states having any money problems with their CE programs.  As far as the approval of classes / instructors / material I encourage the Board and / or DPOR to establish a core of professionals from all disiplines to pre-approve the types of classes / instructor qualifications / course material and review these items every 2-3 years to insure they are current and up to date with new technology.  A true professional should never say he / she cannot learn something that will help in his / her profession.
