I appreciate the Board reconsidering the guidelines for the documentation required during nitrous oxide/oxygen administration. These guidelines do not address the continued burden placed upon the dentist that only one patient at a time can be utilizing nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation if only one doctor is available. I would hope that the Board would reconsider this restriction if the doctor is readily available to direct adjustments to the medical gas by an assistant that is trained in basic life support. The assistant is capable of monitoring the patient if the doctor steps away for a few minutes to attend to something else.
