I would like to respectfully note that every mass shooting in recent years, with only one exception, has been in a gun-free zone. By banning concealed carry guns from offices within the executive branch of the state government, you will have made those offices inherently more dangerous. Those of us who are law abiding will be at the mercy of those who don't give a flip about your executive orders. If the bad guys know that no one will shoot back, then they will feel much more secure and be much more enabled to work their evil on honest people. Your proposed executive order will make us not only feel less safe when we do business with the state, but we will be less safe.

Remember that concealed carry permit (CCP) holders have been vetted by law enforcement and should be considered resonable and responsible citizens who will keep their weapons concealed unless a need arises. Allowing CCP holders to carry makes the job of law enforcement personnel much easier. They will have thousands of Virginia citizens quietly and unobtrusively providing additional security for the Commonwealth by serving as a deterent to bad guys who cannot be sure whether one or more CCP holders is in the space the bad guys want to attack.

I appeal to you not to put the lives of Virginians in danger with this ill advised executive order. If it goes into effect, a lot of people will be cut off from dealing with the executive branch because we just won't go into those danger zones that would be unwisely created by this misguided idea. It is unfair to put our lives at greater risk by forcing us to do business in places where we are unable to defend ourselves.

Remember, the bad guys don't care about your executive order. Why would you insist on putting the good guys at a horrible disadvantage in a life or death situation?
