Against Dry Needling

Dry Needling proponants have chosen to circumvent current acupuncture laws by relabelling acupuncture as Dry Needling. They remain purposefully ignorant of current acupuncture research which shows the physiological responses of the body are EXACTLY THE SAME during an acupuncture treatment and a "Dry Needling" treatment. The insertion of acupuncture needles in acupuncture points using acupuncture techniqes IS acupuncture. I am not opposed to PTs performing acupuncture with adequate education and clinical supervision. This is about the Physical Therapy industry usurping an effective treatment technique while by passing educaitonal standard. It is about profit and an unwitting public will pay the price.  In Colorado it has gone way beyond just trigger point dry needling, it is into facial rejuvenation (done by PT's), Cancer help, and stress relief.  These are areas out of the scope of practice.  Dry needling uses acupuncture point, needles, with no knowledge of what they are doing.  STOP this practice.  Let them do all the training and national boards acupuncturists go through.  There is a reason we are trained this way.
