This regulation is dangerous to public safety, and is completely unnecessary

If we have learned nothing else over the years it is that the multiplication of so-called "Gun-Free Zones" has done nothing so much as to provide someone with ill intent an open invitation to assault, maim, and murder the citizens assembled within its confines. A GFZ assures a malefactor that he will be able to inflict maximum carnage before Law Enforcement and Emergency Services personnel are able to respond. It also guarantees that the true "first-responders" - the citizens themselves, will be powerless to put a stop to the attack.

This is a senseless regulation that will not enhance the security of those who must visit state agencies. To the contrary, it will degrade their actual security by passing a feel-good regulation that does not address the real underlying security issues inherent with modern society.

I reject both the premise and necessity for this regulation, and urge that the Governor rethink his flawed position on this matter.
