TRAP review

PLEASE restore access for women to make the reproductive choices that are best for them, in their and their service provider's opinion ALONE.  Requiring doctors at clinics providing abortion services to have hospital privileges at another instituion does nothing to enhance the safety of the services provided - it only provides an additional obstacle for a woman who has made the difficult decision to terminate a pregnancy. This obstacle will result in the closure of facilities offering this option to women, particularly in areas that already are underserved.  Query:  do clinics providing vasectomies require hospital privileges at another institution for the service provider also?  I would bet not.  Ambulatory surgical facilities fill a very important place in the medical services arena, often keeping a patient clear of the germ factories we know as 'hospitals,' where increasingly you come out with an infection with which you did not enter!  Do look at the incidence of infection between the ambulatoryclinics and the 'hospitals.'  This incessant fascination with the state co-opting a woman's decisions about her own medical care violates every precept about personal liberty on which this country was founded.  It returns us to an era when women were believed too child-like to make decisions for themselves and smacks unnervingly of pure, unadulterated 'social mores' dictatorship, as in places like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Uzbeki-beki-bekistan!
