The women of Virginia implore you to repeal these new regulations and let abortion clinics do what they are made to do. It is clear to us that these requirements are nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to restrict access to a safe abortion in a supportive environment. Allow me to remind you that even if every abortion clinic in Virginia shuts down (18 out of 22 probably will if the regulations aren't repealed) women will not stop having abortions. Poor women, mentally/emotionally unstable women, those in abusive relationships, and any other desperate women will wind up turning to unlicensed abortion practitioners and risking their lives to end a pregnancy. Legislation regarding abortion in Virginia is already stringent enough to make it nearly impossible for many women (including myself) to get an abortion in one of Virginia's 22 clinics. Please do not add to this lack of access by forcing more clinics to close down. Unless the state government plans to fund every single change they are asking for, TRAP should be repealed. It does not increase the safety of abortion procedures, nor does it improve the environment of abortion clinics. By enforcing TRAP, you are telling Virginia women that you could not care less about our health, safety and wellbeing. REPEAL TRAP
