Most if not all residential program patients of 'school age' would
qualify as Disabled Students likely qualifying for IEPs. For those
with IEPs it is imperative that Attendance Measures shall be
documented to be inline with Federal I.D.E.A. Attendance
Regulations as this appears to be VOID in Public Schools
in the past 5 years or so. IEP Scholars do often experience
School Avoidance/School Refusal and these students
are required by Laws already existing to receive additional supports
and services that many Public Schools DO NOT adhere, just so
they can break laws and charge parents/children with CHINS/Truancy and
create unnecessary and undue hardships for IEP Children/Families. These measures
must be included in policy and especially implementation and audited routinely as
to not inflict pain/suffering/abuses needlessly upon the public, and the persons
the most vulnerable persons who truly deserve, require and are entitled to the
additional supports and services their disabilities and/or suspected disabilites
require.
